How Did We Begin?

The Foundation was formed in 2008 to be a catalyst for implementation of a long term Vision Statement for Pinckneyville and the surrounding areas of Perry County, Illinois. A committee representing diverse areas of interest had developed the Vision Statement over a year and one half period and had vetted the Vision in a series of meetings with community organizations and town hall type meetings. Nine initiatives were identified to help residents enjoy a happier and more prosperous future. Some of the initiatives are the responsibility of the Pinckneyville Chamber of Commerce, the Pinckneyville Community High School Board and related foundation or the Pinckneyville Community Hospital Board to implement. The role of the Foundation for Pinckneyville is to -- support those and other organizations; work with the City of Pinckneyville and Perry County governments; stimulate new charitable organizations where appropriate; and, in some cases, work directly to achieve the mission of the Foundation.
