Pinckneyville City Park Initiative
The mission of the Foundation for Pinckneyville is to make our community a great place to live. We believe that the soccer fields upgrade to the Pinckneyville City Park will be a benefit to Pinckneyville’s youth for years to come. It also brings out-of-town families to Pinckneyville for soccer games. That means more spending in our city’s businesses.
A $400,000 IDNR matching grant to the City of Pinckneyville is making this addition to Pinckneyville’s park possible; however amenities like a concession stand, bleachers, and restrooms are not covered under the grant plans. Our annual Masquerade Party raised over $28,000; this will bring our total contributions to date for the new soccer area to over $50,000 which will be directed toward our goal to fund the building of a restroom/concession stand.
The soccer fields site is located off of Mildred Drive in Pinckneyville. The state halted construction of the site, and many other state funded construction builds in Illinois, for nearly a year. According to David Stone, city development manager, construction has resumed and he hopes the fields will be prepared by the end of 2017 and then work can begin on the restroom/concession stand project..
